No need to use your main number

2nr - Darmowy Drugi Numer is a free social and communication mobile app that allows you to gain another mobile number regardless of your phone service. Developed by MobileLabs Sp. z o.o., this little app is designed for privacy protection so you don’t have to reveal your main phone number to anyone. However, while this can be useful for various situations, it often crashes and you can’t get all three numbers it provides.

A handy Polish app

2nr - Darmowy Drugi Numer means “2nr - Free Second Number” in Polish—and unfortunately, it’s an app that’s only available in Polish. Sometimes, your device will automatically translate its interface language to your default language but that doesn’t always work. Either you use handy translation apps like Hi Dictionary that features a movable floating translation bubble or you just check out various online YouTube tutorials on how to navigate it.

Getting your free number here is easy, though. The app lets you have up to three additional numbers on one SIM card—although you may not always max out that number due to app issues. Take note that these have an expiration date of 7 days each. Their validity will extend if someone contacts you using them. Plus, their service is free and all you need for them to work is an internet connection.

However, unlike second number apps such as 2ndLine, you can’t use these numbers to call and text your contacts. These are primarily for situations wherein you don’t want your main number being used—such as when socializing with strangers, signing up for online listings, filling out forms that may solicit ads, and whatnot. The numbers can be deleted whenever and you won’t be charged since you’re not using an actual telecommunications service.

Doesn’t always give three numbers

All in all, 2nr - Darmowy Drugi Numer is a nice alternative to getting another SIM but it’s not always easy to get a free number from this app. It often crashes and sometimes, you won’t get a notification that lets you unlock that new number to be used. Not only that but you will need a translation app or the help of online tutorials to navigate the app if it doesn’t automatically translate to your default language.
